About this training
Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists who are not addiction specialists will still encounter issues of addiction from time to time in their work. Addiction may present in various forms including the obvious drugs, alcohol and gambling addictions, through to addictive behaviours such as porn, food, gaming, phone, self-harm and co-dependent relationships.
This workshop provides an introduction to working with addicted clients and is intended for practicing therapists who wish to broaden their knowledge and skills to respond to addiction when it presents. The day will explore the nature of addiction, types of addictive behaviours and other commonly abused substances, exploration of appropriate treatment models and how best to assist clients when they present with addiction issues.
