About this opportunity
Bradford Family Action is looking to recruit a trauma therapist to work within Survive and Thrive Children and Families Team. The service needs therapists who are trauma informed in their approach and modality and systemic in their thinking and have experience of working with children and young people.
This could include counsellors/therapists with specific trauma training, Family Therapists, Child Psychotherapists or others with appropriate therapeutic training. You would be required to offer individual trauma therapy to children and young people who have been exposed to domestic abuse as well as some systemic work with whole families where appropriate.
You would pull together clinical therapy plans for the family, which could include psycho educative work to parents about the effects of trauma on their child. You will be working with inter-generational trauma and so it is important that you are able to think systemically and have some understanding of trauma, its affects and the different presentation and therapeutic recovery needs of children at different ages and stages.
